My mother and I decided to take Hortense to Chicago so she could see a “big American city”. I love going to Chicago to explore the city and obviously buy clothes. Fashion in Chicago has always interested me because there are so many different styles represented by many cultures and people. It was great to get some new ideas on what to wear and how to challenge myself in the fashion world.
Our first stop was at Cafe Ba-Ba-Reeba, which is my favorite restaurant. Any time I am in Chicago I make time for this place. It is a super cool tapas place with amazing foods and the best sangria (if you know me then you know I am obsessed with sangria). We tried so many amazing foods, my favorite being this goat cheese spread on garlic bread.
Of course I had to order myself a Sangria. This flavor, I believe, was black raspberry. I love that the restaurant will put cut up fruit into every glass. The lighting in this restaurant is horrible but it does create a nice ambiance.
The rest of the day we walked around shopping and visiting some of the tourist attractions. We stopped in TopShop and UNIQLO (if you ever meet my mother ask her how to pronounce the name of this store, it is hilarious). UNIQLO is one of my new favorite stores for closet basics. They have plain colored t-shirts for $5 and super great deals on sweaters and pants. Give it a look! After shopping we went to the John Hancock Skydeck. It was so beautiful to see the views of Chicago.
I made sure my outfit was super lightweight because it was so warm and humid in Chicago. We unfortunately had some rain that day but only sporadically. I wore a black short sleeve t-shirt that tucked into my Madewell shorts. These shorts are so comfortable and fun to wear. I did not want to carry a purse so I borrowed my sisters black and brown Longchamp backpack. This made it so easy to carry my wallet and umbrella around all day.
We ended up staying much longer than we planned and had such a good time.
